It’s a familiar pattern for Republican lawmakers when it comes to Democrat scandals: talk tough on Fox News and social media while doing nothing of substance, with Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) being a repeat offender.
The Somali fraud scandal in Minnesota has the potential to bring down the entire Democrat house of corruption, with the swindling of taxpayers and money laundering already exposed only representing the tip of the iceberg, and presenting a golden opportunity for the so-called majority party to use its power to shut down the racketeering once and for all.
But instead of decisive action, the big-talking Texan is doing what he always does by pledging to hold hearings, which, while making for a good opportunity to chase clout on X and provide fodder for his podcast, never amount to anything but the spewing of hot air from a man many contend has built his career on hollow grandstanding.
Hundreds of millions of dollars from Minnesota have funded radical Islamic terror in Somalia.
It’s so bad that the MN taxpayer is the largest source of funds for the Somali terror group Al-Shabaab.
I’ll be chairing a Senate Judiciary hearing to fight this fraud. pic.twitter.com/QVz1xFzmWR

“Hundreds of millions of dollars from Minnesota have funded radical Islamic terror in Somalia,” Cruz said in a Friday post to X, sharing a clip of a recent Fox News appearance.
“It’s so bad that the MN taxpayer is the largest source of funds for the Somali terror group Al-Shabaab,” he added. “I’ll be chairing a Senate Judiciary hearing to fight this fraud.”
To X users, it’s just more of the same BLAH! BLAH! BLAH! from GOP lawmakers who are pissing away a historic opportunity to set things right by dithering instead of moving forward decisively to enact the reform agenda that President Donald J. Trump was resoundingly elected on.
Lots of words!!!
Anyone going to jail??

What are you going to do about it? Hearings and strongly worded letters are about as effective as strapping down tumbleweeds.

We need less talking and more action. We’ve seen this movie before and it doesn’t end well.

Ooooh, another senate hearing. These people better look out, they may even get a terse letter from you that uses harsh words. I’ll bet they’re terrified.

Less talk ,more action .

No more hearings all you guys do is grandstand start having people arrested and cut off funds. But you guys just rubber stamp previous spending.
— Donald Hopp (@hoppzilla1) January 9, 2026
Oh great. Strongly worded tweets will put a stop to this.

I’m so exhausted with our politicians. You control the purse strings. You can stop this right now. But you won’t.

No more hearings.

Cruz is reportedly mulling a 2028 White House run as the Bush-Romney old guard looks to retake control of the GOP once President Donald J. Trump is gone.
He unsuccessfully ran for president in 2016 and was the last man standing after a brutal primary in which Trump dispatched all of his establishment opponents, but the electoral math was too much for “Lyin’ Ted” to overcome, and he, too, was run over by the MAGA express.
