FBI now prioritizing political cases over child sexual abuse, whistleblower says

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is taking agents off cases involving child sexual abuse and directing them to pursue political investigations, a new whistleblower revealed, according to Republicans on the House Judiciary Committee. The whistleblower recalled being told that “child sexual abuse investigations were no longer an FBI priority.”

Rep. Jim Jordan, ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee, wrote in a letter to FBI Director Chris Wray that whistleblowers continue to uncover “disturbing conduct” at the bureau, including “sacrificing its other important federal law-enforcement duties to pursue January 6 investigations.”

“The whistleblower recalled, for example, being “told that child sexual abuse material investigations were no longer an FBI priority and should be referred to local law enforcement agencies,’” the letter stated.

“Such a posture is not only a dereliction of the FBI’s mission to investigate violations of federal laws, but it is a grave disservice to the victims of child sexual abuse and other crimes that do not advance the FBI leadership’s political agenda,” it continued.

Jordan noted that multiple whistleblowers have described a “rotted” culture among the bureau’s leadership in Washington, D.C.

As part of the committee’s “ongoing oversight of the politicization at the FBI,” Jordan demanded Wray turn over all documents and communications related to the Washington Field Office’s policies and procedures for opening investigations into the events on Jan. 6, as well as a number of other files.

Last week, FBI agents reportedly accused the Biden administration of exaggerating the white supremacist threat in the United States and pressuring the agency to fabricate cases of domestic terrorism that involve racist extremists.

“The demand for white supremacy vastly outstrips the supply of white supremacy,” one agent told The Washington Times, speaking on condition of anonymity. Multiple current and former FBI agents said they had similar experiences and that bureau leadership is pressuring agents to create domestic terrorism cases and label individuals as “white supremacists.”
